Replit was built for “apps,” but that changes today
Building software used to mean one thing at a time. One task. One tool. One item. You'd finish, then move on to the next. It also meant interacting with one Agent
But that's not how software works - the hard part about shipping is all of the little things that make a production app real - marketing sites, promotion, assets, mobile apps
It's multitasking & managing parallel workstreams. It's collaborating with the team.
What we're finding is that everything is code - and the way to interact with code is via parallel agents
Today's launch reshapes how we see @Replit - it's no longer just about apps - Agent 4 ships four capabilities that change what a project can be
Design canvas
Design has always lived in siloed tools.
You'd sketch in Figma or Canva, export assets, paste them into your project, and hope it matches. You'd do some wireframing on a whiteboard, then try to make it real.
We brought that experience inside Replit.
The Design Canvas is a visual surface inside Replit where you can generate variants, compare options, and make precise edits - all with the familiar features of a whiteboard (we used the best... @tldraw)
The Agent has full context on your canvas. More tactically, you can generate variants of your apps, mark them up or add notes, then pass them back to the Agent with full context.
Start in the canvas, switch to a preview when you're ready. Switch back whenever you want.
Create everything in one place
Each Replit “app” is now more than just an app. It's a project with multiple components - web, mobile, slides, data analysis - all at the same URL.
One project. Multiple outputs. Generate a PDF, a CSV, a video, a markdown doc - straight from the same chat interface.
You can now think about a Replit “project” or “artifact” as a source of truth for what you're working on.
