Terranox (@terranoxai) is building the first AI-powered uranium discovery company. Nuclear energy is experiencing a global resurgence, and the world needs to 4x uranium production by 2050 to fuel it. Traditional exploration has a hit rate below 1%, driving extremely high costs and decade-long timelines. Terranox uses AI trained on decades of exploration data to find the deposits needed to power the next century. .@beyondreachlabs builds deployable solar arrays that grow from the size of a dining table to a football field in orbit, unlocking massive power for next-gen spacecraft. Congrats on the launch, @fogmb and Pele! https://ycombinator.com/launches/PUY-bey…
T1 Energy CEO @_danielbarcelo says China can make an entire American grid’s worth of energy - just in solar - every year: “China is up to over 1,000 GW (1.2 TW) of capacity. Last year, China added close to 350 to 400 GW. That’s close to the American grid. So it’s almost like China can add an entire grid, just in solar.” “I don’t believe China’s doing it to lower carbon emissions. China’s doing it because they need to grow very, very fast.”
We're committing to cover electricity price increases from our data centers. To ensure ratepayers aren’t picking up the tab, we'll pay 100% of grid upgrade costs, work to bring new power online, and invest in systems to reduce grid strain. Read more: https://anthropic.com/news/covering-elec…

David Ulevitch on how AI is transforming energy, defense, and logistics: "If you start at the most fundamental level, energy—we have an insatiable thirst for energy in this country, and AI compute is driving a huge amount of it." "AI compute will then power lots of things. It's not just going to power ChatGPT, but it's going to power autonomy systems, all kinds of other language models, and all other kinds of use cases." "If you look at defense, computer vision is transforming the battlefield." "Then you see AI transforming logistics... flight operations and planning using AI, so you can have the most efficient flight planning, save the most amount of fuel, and make sure that the least amount of flights get canceled." @davidu on @sourceryy
Elon Musk on scaling AI in space: Earth is the bottleneck. "It’s harder to scale on the ground than it is to scale in space." "You’re going to get about five times the effectiveness of solar panels in space versus the ground, and you don’t need batteries. I almost wore my other shirt, which says, 'It’s always sunny in space.'" "In 36 months (but probably closer to 30 months), the most economically compelling place to put AI will be space." "Once you start thinking in terms of what percentage of the sun’s power are you harnessing, you realize you have to go to space." Source: @elonmusk with Stripe’s @collision and @dwarkesh_sp
