European AI Funding and Founder Background Expectations

A European VC told Hugo Mercier they weren't keen on backing his AI start-up Twin (@twin_labs) because his Co-Founder went to Law School. "Yeah, he dropped out of Law School to build a hedge fund and made $10M" - says @hugomercierooo Hugo: "I think the founders are a bit of a reflection of the VC market - if everyone is asking you if it's been done in the US, or can you build a European moat due to regulation, then it will be a vicious cycle". The Parisian based Co-Founder of the AI start-up Twin, who's launch recently went viral, believes: "We need firms that are actually taking bets, who want to fund crazy ideas, and crazy people - not just people who go to @Polytechnique.
