it’s easy to dismiss Terrence Tao here as a romantic mathematician defending the slow, whimsical path, but i think he’s pointing at something well beyond mathematics it’s easier than ever to outsource a task, but we still have poor ways of noticing what disappears when we do. i wonder how we create more moments that force us to notice that tradeoff
