When Amazon brought me to Seattle to help build AWS, almost everyone at the org was an immigrant. The ratio was probably ~20:1. This “visa abuse” was what was necessary to create the biggest American companies in the history of commerce. The Seattle metro area became one of the wealthiest regions in the world because of this, but let’s shut the whole system down that made this possible.
BREAKING: The Trump administration is suspending Microsoft, Adobe, and several major IT outsourcing firms from a key employment-based green card program, accusing them of abusing the visa system at the expense of American workers. Vice President JD Vance singled out Microsoft, saying the tech giant laid off 6,000 American workers while benefiting from 6,300 H-1B visas and nearly 3,000 green cards. "You cannot lay off American workers and then replace them with foreign indentured servants." The Labor Department says it will stop accepting new applications and processing pending applications from the targeted companies as federal investigations continue.
