took me 1 day to realize omarchy isn’t for me. which is funny cause i was so excited! but then i realized how much i actually just love my mac and have no problems with really any of it at all. will return thinkpad tomorrow and get back to work on @postbridge_ to 100k MRR (also made progress today for the record!)
first impressions using OMARCHY operating system - feedback for all those wanting to try and the creator @dhh himself! note: i’m coming from mac and as someone who almost never uses terminal interfaces. i have never used linux at all and used windows for 10 years before mac. so… first setup was smooth, and i feel super swag using this thing even on a brick of a laptop however upon opening a new window for the first time it did not tile when following system setup notifications top right to setup my claude agent. and then QR code to login is cutoff as it’s in a chrome dialog which doesn’t scale with zoom on browser control .. so i got clause to tell me the shortcut to focus the tab to full screen (i already forgot what it was) also re the setup notifications: there was no way to say “no thanks bye” other than clicking on them and then having to learn shortcut to quit them right away afterwards (mouse enjoyer me was weeping for all of 10 seconds) now after i got claude working it was easier to figure things out but still its a headache and im not entirely sure why i wanted so bad to try this out. i think at its core it’s not an operating system for me, as i had no qualms with my existing system to begin with, i was only curious! i will keep trying things out and see- worse case i can return the thinkpad or use it as a little server for something else in the future! will quote tweet this post if i have any updates. btw kudos to DHH for being so passionate about this OS and making it feel cool and fun! the way he describes things brings fire into my heart and that’s the main reason i wanted to try omarchy
