Decagon (@DecagonAI) Co-Founder & CEO @thejessezhang discusses the choice engineers face between working at companies building the foundational models, like @OpenAI or @AnthropicAI, and working at the application layer, like @DecagonAI: "The reason why the application layer is exciting for me, and the people on our team, is you have direct impact with customers, but you're also able to capture a lot more of the value tied to the actual business pain you're solving". @DecagonAI raised a $250B round at a $4.5B valuation earlier this year to build 'The Ai Concierge for Every Customer'. "We have amazing researchers here that fine-tune models etc but everyone's doing it for the purpose of you delivering a product to our customers" @thejessezhang says that: "Every model you train, every single sort of incremental improvement you make, you can see the net result of it almost immediately in in in front of our customers"
