BREAKING: UK based Wayve (@wayve_ai) has just raised a $1.2B Series-D at an $8.6B valuation, ranking it as one of the UK's most valuable start-ups. The round welcomes new funding from Mercedes-Benz (@MercedesBenz), Stellantis (@Stellantis) and Nissan (@Nissan) as it prepares for London robo-taxi launch. Co-Founder and CEO Alex Kendall (@alexgkendall) says: "We started a decade ago with a contrarian technical thesis: that self-driving is an AI problem, and Embodied AI will enable autonomy to scale without rules, HD-maps and using mass-produced hardware". Existing investors Balderton Capital (@balderton), Eclipse (@EclipseVentures), and Softbank (@SoftBank) led the latest funding round.
