opus 5.5 is starting to build this trust, especially with code/services written in effect.
so i bookmarked this yesterday b/c i wanted to genuinely give it some real thought. went on a disconnected walk to think about it. i'd preface my answer with saying that i think we'll be at a point where not reading the code is likely a real possibility in the not so distant future - i think once the models get better at building software with future changing requirements/new requirements in mind (e.g better thought out abstractions/program design), we'll be a lot closer. as for what will convince me we're there: ironically, reading the code. and maybe more clearly, building my trust, over time, in its ability to deliver well designed systems that can adapt, change, and be validated w/o slop building up and calcifying.
