In China you can get a $14k car with LiDAR and no monthly fee for BYD’s “God’s Eye” ADAS. AND- If it screws up while driving or parking, BYD covers all losses. BYD's system is not as good as FSD, but Huawei’s system is considered better, in cars from ~$30k. https://x.com/pitdesi/status/20955811559…

you misunderstood / i wasn't clear - it's not $13k in sensors, an entire BYD Seagull car costs $13k and has lidar. I'd be shocked if the cybercab costs only $18k to make, but the thing is- for rideshare AV, the cost of the vehicle doesn't really matter that much right now. You are competing against humans and that human driver costs $60k+ a year, so a few thousand per year here or there doesn't matter much.
