Capability alone doesn't define intelligence in AI systems

I like @DeryaTR_’s definitions of AGI and ASI, but they made me wonder whether capability alone is enough to call something intelligent. The latest models are probably already better than me at problem-solving, learning, and plenty of other things. But they still wait for me to tell them what to do and rarely say no, except when humans have trained them to. My 4-year-old knows far less than a frontier model does but tells me no all day. AGI is AI capable of matching or exceeding the general cognitive abilities of most humans across nonphysical tasks, including reasoning, problem-solving, learning, and creativity. In my view, Astra has fully crossed that threshold, although we already had “baby AGI” by late last year. ASI, is AI that surpasses even the most brilliant human minds, past or present, with the potential to ultimately exceed the collective intellectual capabilities of humanity as a whole.
