Bring back genuinely sharing stuff you like. Not everything needs to be a link swap. Tim Ferriss seems to be the only big creator that just shares what he actually enjoys
Some of my favorite books I finished this year Nonfiction - antimimetics - tiny experiments - inner compass -conscious accomplishment - yoga of work - breakneck - here after - things become other things - money together - thinking about leaving - why greatness can’t be planned Fiction - stoner (weird) - husk - how we disappeared - house of doors
who are the most creative people at launching stuff?
I love Claude Code but Claude Cowork is Temu Manus
hmm beehiiv seems more serious about building for creators considering switching somewhere like kit from substack but maybe keeping substack for essay type stuff I have no desire to run a paid monthly subscription and that seems to be substacks only thing thoughts?
people used to just reply to stuff now every post and reply is like a recruitment for a cult
In the last few years we’ve had creators basically come in and be willing to spend six or seven figures to build audiences. These people have eaten up a lot of attention. On the margin, the long game “I’ll do 100 post” types can feel something’s shifted. It has. You have to be aware of these dynamics and how it changes the game you’re playing. I think for me thinking 5-10 years from now I’m not sure I’ll be able to last in this world in indie mode. I’ll need to differentiate (my attempts with books) or have lifestyle Tradeoffs or invest in resources. Said a simpler way the marginal unit of attention has been bid up. The “creator economy” is weirdly becoming people who don’t even play the long game or love the content. For them it’s instrumental. They outsource to a content team as fast as possible. Is this good or bad? I don’t know. But it’s happening. Just some thoughts
