One of the positive trends in AI is that it's acting as a forcing function for declarative thinking. If you really specify what you mean, the imperative part gets generated for you, and it's mostly right. Underspecify the problem or start too early on making the code, and it veers in directions you didn't want. This is also just how good software design has always worked. Now LLMs make the lesson unavoidable.
