The Haskell ecosystem taught me something important about API design. It made it possible to express computation in many different ways. Every library used the author's favorite paradigm. Instead of just using libraries, you spent most of your time adapting paradigms to each other. The kind system was so flexible it made composition hard. Flexibility, after a certain point, is a tax.
