Local-first means so many different things now because the strictest version was basically impossible. Physics wouldn't cooperate. The tradeoffs were completely unacceptable. So everyone ended up at a different point on the spectrum between classic server-driven and pure ideological local first, yet they all kept calling it "local first." Now the term covers positions that are barely related to each other.
