Why Sources Break NDAs to Talk to Journalists

Author of Sources @alexeheath explains why people tell journalists things that violate their NDAs: "I've never understood reporters who just sit in their office and blog all day. You're never going to get really differentiated stuff, especially in the age of AI, where you can generate anything. If I can just generate the copy, what matters is what's feeding the copy, and that's me going out, interviewing someone, and breaking a story." "People always ask me, 'Why do people tell you things that violate an NDA?' They always think it's vindictive, or that they're pissed and trying to right a wrong, or that it's moralistic. A lot of people just like to gossip."
