AWS will build you five different database products that are really all the same foundation underneath. They ask a very specific question of you: what interface is safe enough for you to trust and buy? So while some of these surfaces are still very 80s-flavored for market reasons, the real engines have moved on, and they're kind of humoring us at this point.
