We started @convex into a headwind. Post-NoSQL, everyone had returned to Postgres. The consensus was basically: we flew too close to the sun, new database abstractions are a bad idea, and Postgres is fine. We knew we would need a new movement to make developers question that again. We also knew that we couldn't create it ourselves, so we just started building and waited. And it turned out to be LLM-assisted development.
