it’s nice to see openai sign the letter cuz in the macro you have to simply realize one fact which is that there is no point in trying to play defense against foreign open weight models. it’s expensive, porous, & will ultimately be entirely futile. not to mention open weights are kind of a gift to the world. the govt should focus on one thing.. accelerating american offense w/ more compute, more energy, more talent, faster infrastructure which all results in better & better models & eventually…
