We are currently in an overshoot period. A big thing showed up, got adopted faster than the surrounding practices could form, and now a lot of bets are on outcomes that aren't fully warranted. The blowback is coming. Then we'll overreact the other way: this stuff is all useless and can't be trusted... Then equilibrium. This is the same oscillation that follows every major shift (like web 1.0). But that doesn't make it less disorienting while you're in it.
